Funny, and hilarious and has some parts that weren't in the TV show. Something any Grafield lover would like to read the night before Thanksgiving. That's exactly what I do. It's fun and very colorful. Jon really comes up with some wierd substitutes for some of the things he bakes. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Garfield: The Truth About Cats
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Author: Jim Davis
Average review score:

A manual for cat owners.
What a cute little book. Each page has its own cartoon about cat owning rules. And I tell ya 99% of them are true. I don't have a cat myself but my aunt has 2 and everytime I'm there this book is proven to be acurate at least 10 times. Things like 'The Most Comfortable spot for a cat to nap-is any spot you were about to occupy' ring true as well as 'Cats need their space-and your space too'. I totally dig cats AND Garfield. And if you do too then get this book.

A must read for all cat lovers!
Oh, I just love Garfield. Only someone who has lived with cats many years can sometimes understand Jim Davis' humor. Every comic strip has truth behind it. Even when presented with Garfield's wicked sense of humor, a cat lover can see the every day life with a cat. Very fun, very true, and a definite must read for all cat lovers!

Handbook of Psychotherapy and Behavior Change

Authors: Allen E. Bergin and Sol L. Garfield
Average review score:

THE reference for psychotherapy research
At first read, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information in this book. However, as I have used it more, I have come to appreciate the clarity of the writing, the quality of the research, and the experience of the writers. Every clinician should read this book. It has inspired me to view research as a necessary component of good practice.

A Classic in the Field
This book is a classic and definitive reference book for every clinical psychologist and psychotherapists in other professions. It would also be informative to the educated non-practitioner who wants to learn more about the field of psychotherapy.

How the Universe Works/Pathways to Enlightenment
Published in Paperback by Celestial Arts (March, 1992)
Authors: Laeh Maggie Garfield and Leah Maggie Garfield
Average review score:

The Secrets of Life--Powerful!
Laeh Garfield reveals the esoteric secrets of life that you won't find in virtually any other book. These are secrets that we could all be aware of if we were enlightened. The book talks about shamanic ways of reaching enlightenment. There are 3 tiers of enlightenment. The first is the moon spiral. Once you unblock your Godly potential, you can manifest anything within reason. The next tier is the sun spiral, which journeys into higher mind, inner wisdom, and inspiration. The next is the star spiral, which is the wisdom known in all times and all places. Topics in the book include life purpose and goals, spiritual path, the realms of existence, the seven mansions of spiritual growth, oversouls, spirit guides, rootbeings, archangels, karma, past lives, possession, birth, aging, death, the other side, breath, infertility, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), spiritual abortion, relationships, meditation, shakti, tantra, the elements (fire, wind, water, etc), controlling weather, sound and colors, extraterrestrials, time, dreams, vision quest, channeling, truth, and transmission. Wow! This is one of the best books I've read.

Definately a book for seekers on a spiritual path
This is not a book that I would recommend to just anyone. The information available in this book can benefit a true spiritual seeker. In the native american style of teaching through stories, the author shares deep knowledge about the spiritual "background" that all beings share. A true seeker can find that the same levels of enlightenment exist in other esoteric religions, just labelled with different names. This is a great reference book, revealing the spiritual aspects of many life-topics. Note: This book is also available in German.

I'm In The Mood For Food: In The Kitchen With Garfield
Published in Hardcover by Andrews McMeel Publishing (March, 2003)
Author: Jim Davis
Average review score:

Silly me, I thought I was buying this for our son!
Our son loves to cook. He also loves Garfield. He is living away from home during his college break, and, being an ever concerned mother, when I saw this book I thought what a great book to send to our son for his summer fun, and it could be a great survival book. I picked it up out of a sense of fun and mother's happiness, and, to my delight, I found a serious cook book lay deliciously hidden beneath the cover. Ahh, "Decadent Roasted Blue Chees Potatoes," "Magnifico Mushroom Risotto," "Beat Me. Whip Me. Make Me Eat Rosemary Scalloped Potatoes," ah yes, like the great Native American Tradition, this is a book for the Heyokas out there, and the jesters. It is cooking with heart, with fun, and what fellow or gal with a great sense of humor and a great palate wouldn't just love the greatness of this hidden treasure book of fun and food.

Of course, there is ever-practical advice, such as Garfied's Fine Dining Faux Pas (Lord only knows who your child might be dating, and they can kindly leave this page open so that the "would-be date" will not embarrass your child while dining in a fine establishment). Thus, the advice, and this is just one of many, that one should not gargle with your aperitif, could simply be one of many saving graces.

I highly recommend this book. I readily admit I have kept the copy I bought for our son, and ordered many more for the rest of our children so that after a hard day, they may laugh and cook and be oh so glad to have an outrageous mother who has taught them love, laughter, and fine dining make for a happier day.

Mel D. Levine, M.D. National Speaker, Author & Consultant
Journeys takes us on an energizing expedition into the frontiers of human resiliency. The biographical vignettes allow us all to experience the fortitude and ingenuity underlying the human capacity to transform disability into productivity. The book enables all of us to nurture justifiable optimism in the presence of seeming handicap.

Bill Rodgers Four time winner of the Boston Marathon
Anyone who reads Journeys will be asking themselves the question I did, 'could I handle major setbacks as well as the people profiled here?' One realizes how much good these individuals have accomplished through their splendid will power and they all send us a message, 'Don't ooh and ahh at them as we do Hollywood figures, some athletes and British Royalty rather salute them, and do good things yourself!'

The Pause: Positive Approaches to Perimenopause and Menopause
Published in Paperback by Plume (January, 2000)
Author: Lonnie Garfield Barbach
Average review score:

The Best Book on this subject.
The Pause is absolutely the best book I have read on Perimenopause and Menopause. I went through menopause quite early (36!) and found this book to be very helpful. Perhaps because I was younger and was going through it more quickly I found some of the other books that focus on the emotional and "spiritual" aspects annoying. Just give me the facts Mam, and this book did just that. First she explains the physiology in a very understandable manner. Just that information helps you to understand so much. Then she goes into each symptom, explaining what you may experience and giving you ways to cope and possible treatments. She explains what your doctor would most likely recomment (HRT etc.) and she also recommends herbal and alternative therapies that other women have found helpful.
Before puberty we are taught what to expect. When we become pregnant the doctor gives us reading material on what to expect. This is a must read for women to understand this next stage in their lives.

The Pause:Positive Approaches to Perimenopause and Menopaus
This new edition is a must for any woman going through the change. The new edition covers a much broader view on this subject than the older edition. This edition gives different approaches to choices that exists in dealing with the hormonal rollercoater and allows the reader to compare allopathic methods to more complementary methods of treating menopause. As a healthcare provider, I find this a great source of information to refer to my patients who are working through this time of their life and not knowing which way to turn. I like the idea that it covers menopause from a practical forthright place that does not treat it as a disfunctional time, but more as a time to renew oneself and take control of ones life.

The Sixth Garfield Treasury
Published in Paperback by Ballantine Books (Trd Pap) (November, 1991)
Author: Jim Davis
Average review score:

One Great Garfield Book!
Yes, yes, yes, yes. I know that the logos are missing from this book and that's why I lowered ratings on the other Treasuries, but since this was the first Treasury I bought, I don't really care. This book is just to funny! Garfield's Christmas, Garfield's New Years, a real great food joke, all sorts of great things are within the pages of this book, in beautiful living color, too.

We all know who Garfield is but some of us haven't really read him, yet. I used to not read him but when I discovered this gorgeous book, I couldn't get enough of him. Him, his owner, Jon, the idiot dog, Odie, all get into some very funny situations. I, like all have the other books, have read this one countless times. I love it. Garfield cracking some of his best jokes in his longer, more colorful, and more energetic Sunday strips. I'd recommend you buy this book now! It's a no regrets one, unless you regret laughing to hard.

Garfield at his BEST!!!
Everyones favorite furball is back to annoy Jon and Odie. I laughed out loud reading this book.Any Garfield fans should read it.

Teeth, teeth, teeth: a treatise on teeth and related parts of man, land & water animals from earth's beginning to the future of time: includes thorough description of modern teeth care and advanced dental treatment

writing a second review for impact
i am the same one who wrote the only other review of this book....
i just wanted to say that my email address is no longer babygirl_87@hotmail, but is now LE87@dangerous-minds.com

i would welcome correspondance from anyone in regards to this book....if you appreciated it, you must be worth talking to!

A brilliantly mad book by a certainly insane dentist.
This is the most genius that I have ever seen compacted onto paper. Although completely deranged and lacking in grammar proficiency, Dr. Garfield, D.D.S. succeeds in being thorough in his treatise, as well as thoroughly entertaining and interesting for the entire 488 pages. The book is filled with complex diagrams of human and animal anatomy and gruesome illustrations of primitive dental "technology". I particularly enjoy the last chapter, entitled "The Future" in which Dr. Garfield predicts the future of mankind. The first page of this chapter displays a picture of two naked busty Polynesian women experimenting in a laboratory. (Although Dr. Garfield's book is about teeth, he somehow tends to mention breasts an awful lot.) Among Dr. Garfield's predictions for the future are: The elimination of eating or drinking, and therefore the need for bodily openings, which disappear courtesy of evolution; and the perfection of medical science, which renders medical doctors unnecessary....which will make room for new degrees to be earned, such as "Doctor of Infinite Happiness".

This is the sort of book that is worth tracking down at all costs, and if you are lucky enough to secure a copy, show it off proudly to all you believe are capable of grasping and appreciating such a magnificent work as this.

If anyone actually ever reads this review, it means that someone actually searched for this book besides myself.END
